9:15-10:00 Breakfast, arrivals, introductions
10:00-11:30 Representative from Carnegie Speech will demonstrate their materials—Speech Assessment and Native Accent program, comment on how these tools have been used on other campuses, and discuss how our programs might benefit from using this approach to teaching pronunciation.
11:30-12:30 Several approaches to pronunciation and oral communication at Yale
  Doug Honorof—Using improvisation to help improve fluency—case studies from two summer groups
  Kirk Hughes—How the “vowel dance” helps students gain confidence and improve comprehensibility
  Julie Vance—A discussion of more traditional approaches
12:30-1:30 Lunch
1:30-2:30 Still open—possibilities are a discussion of Yale’s Individual Language Tutorials or a time during which we invite those from other campuses to present strategies, assignments or exercises that have helped students improve pronunciation and oral communication skills.
2:30-3:00 Planning for future meetings
